LunchboxWax AWARDS FRANCHISE IN PORTLAND’S PEARL DISTRICT

— Longtime Portland-area resident signs franchise and area development agreements for chic wax-only salons, sets sights on empowering communities —

October 8, 2013, Boise, ID — LunchboxWax, an affordable, turnkey, full-support franchise system in the thriving $7 billion beauty industry, announced today it has awarded its first franchise in Portland, Oregon, as part of an expansion plan to add more than 20 locations across several franchisees in other affluent, progressive communities in the next 15 months.

Bridge D’Urso signed franchise and area development agreements and is currently identifying a location in Portland’s progressive Pearl District, with plans to open the first of two speed-waxing salons in spring 2014. Like all current LunchboxWax salons, the Portland area location will cater to people who want to feel beautiful and are mindful about the people and places they choose for these services.

D'Urso, who will oversee daily operations and plans to employ 6-8 certified speed waxologists for her first four-suite salon, said the established brand, turnkey system and continuous support compelled their decision to join the LunchboxWaxfranchise system as its first Oregon franchisee.

“The LunchboxWax décor and design, the system, the brand, the vision and every detail is executed exceptionally,” said D’Urso, who said the diversity, vibrant commerce and culture, public transit and bicycle access makes the Pearl District among her favorite parts of the Portland area, a place she’s called home for nearly two decades.

LunchboxWax launched its national franchise program this year to answer growing consumer demand for expertly trained estheticians groomed for the sole purpose of speed waxing in an environment that is dedicated to each guest’s comfort.

“Bridge is a perfect fit and addition to the LunchboxWax family,” said LunchboxWax Founder and CEO Debi Lane. “Portland is near and dear to my heart. Before we decided to transition LunchboxWax from a privately owned business to a franchise system, I had picked The Pearl as my No. 1 place to expand. This eclectic, enthusiastic and energetic community fits our vibe, and I can’t wait to see the reciprocal relationship between Bridge and the people who love The Pearl just blossom into something beautiful and fun.”

“I love supporting the development of this woman-owned franchise business, and I admire the way they integrate their values into business,” said D’Urso, who spent more than a decade at Portland State University in a variety of roles built to support women, including serving most recently as the director of the university’s Women's Resource Center. “They care that I will be involved with my community and that I will give back. They care about the ingredients in our products and who manufactures them. I couldn’t in good conscience get involved with just any enterprise. I chose LunchboxWax because they care.”

The wax-only LunchboxWax concept cultivates curiosity, provides a proven system that includes custom products to pamper the skin of every guest before, during and after a session, and answers the overwhelming need to offer a place that doesn’t see waxing as an ad-on service or an afterthought, Lane said.
