What is the cancellation policy?
We require at least a 12-hour notice to cancel any appointment. A credit card number is needed to hold your reservation. Once an appointment is booked – unless we hear otherwise – we’ll expect you to be there. No-show and same-day cancellations will be charged 50% of the service booked to the card number with which they were held.
Can I get waxed if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! Sometimes your skin may feel a bit tender during pregnancy, but there is no harm to you or your baby. Make sure to discuss this with your waxologist, though. The more your waxologist knows about you, the better service she can provide.
What if I’m taking medications or have allergies?
If you’re taking any medication or have allergies, please consult with your waxologist. Taking antibiotics or topical acne medicines (including Accutane, Differin, Retin A, prednisone or corticosteroids) may make skin more sensitive and susceptible to some skin lifting.
Do men wax?
Absolutely! Beyond the Manzilian (the male version of the Brazilian) many men also wax their chests, backs, noses and ears. Some men love to be slick from top to toes, and we can take care of that. But we have a tip for you: Don’t wax your face. While women’s faces respond well, the hair on a man’s face and head isn’t built for the waxing process. See a full list of LunchboxWax services by perusing our menu.
How long does my hair need to be?
Let your hair grow to at least ¼ inch – this is about the length of your bottom eyelash. Even if you are feeling like a little chia pet, don’t worry; our waxologists will take care of you! It is better to go in with all you’ve got and more rather than trimming or shaving to try and tidy up before your visit.
Should I shave or trim my hair between visits?
If you find yourself tempted to shave or trim, don’t! Once you see that waxing leaves you stubble-free, you won’t want to. Staying away from clippers and razors will also help to remove more growth cycles during your next visit. If you have the urge to shave in between visits, book them closer together! Razors and clippers chop the hair at its thickest, making it harder for the wax to hold on to!
Is there an age limit for getting waxed?
You can never be too old for a Brazilian! We even have clients who are septuagenarians. True story! As for the age to start waxing, that’s really up to you – or your parents if you’re under the age of 18. Guests 17 or younger should bring their parent or guardian in for the first time, as they will need to give the green light with their John Hancock.
Will my hair grow back darker or thicker?
No! Waxing actually helps the hair to grow back at a finer texture, making it easier to remove during your next visit. And an added bonus: The more you get waxed, the less it hurts; it just keeps getting better!
What if I get a sunburn before my next visit?
Please wait for your sunburn to heal before getting waxed to avoid lifting of the skin during the waxing process (OUCH!). The same applies to rashes and other skin irritations.
What if I don’t know how my eyebrows should be shaped?
Don’t worry, our waxologists help you discover the perfect brow shape for YOU and your facial features! Even if you have spent some time with tweezers in the past, we can – with a little patience and expertise – help you get your brows red-carpet ready. And, even better, we can help you keep them that way.
How long does a Brazilian take?
How long does it take? More like how fast are our waxologists! With the LunchboxWax three-step speed-waxing process, the actual waxing takes about 15 minutes on average, which means you can get in, get out and even reschedule and catch up with your waxologist in a 30-minute lunch break (with time to spare)! Check out our menu to see the full list of services and how little time they all take!
Can I go tanning after getting waxed?
Try to wait 48 hours to tan after waxing, just to be safe! If you do find yourself needing to be outside in the sunshine, just make sure to use some SPF!
What about spray tans and waxing?
Don’t plan to get a spray tan before getting waxed. We don’t want to wax that pretty glow right off! Also, you don’t want to plan on getting a spray tan AFTER getting waxed because self-tan reacts with keratin in the skin and "stains" the skin. Waxing can cause self-tan to look patchy and streaky as it often removes the top (dead) layer of skin cells.
How close together should I schedule my visits?
Not all re-growth cycles are the same. Some people get waxed every three weeks, while some (LUCKY) people can make it six! If you are unsure of how close to book your appointments, try four weeks apart to start and go from there.
Can I workout after getting a wax?
Try to avoid going to the gym post-wax for 48 hours; perspiration can irritate your skin! Ahhh, an excuse to relax -- yet another reason LunchboxWax is wonderful.
What is the best way to handle ingrown hairs?
The best way to handle them is to NOT! Don’t fuss with ingrown hairs, because this makes you prone to infection and scarring. If you’re prone to these pesky buggers, talk to your waxologist who can recommend an exfoliation regimen. Even if you don’t normally get ingrown hairs, still keep your hands off freshly waxed skin, as this can encourage irritation or small pimples.
Can I have my morning coffee the day of a waxing visit?
Caffeine can make skin more sensitive so it is best to wait to have your coffee until AFTER getting waxed. If you must have your coffee, consider taking some ibuprofen before your visit.
When should I start exfoliating?
Start an exfoliation routine two days after you get waxed to help prevent ingrown hairs. If you have questions about what kind of routine would be best for you, ask your waxologist during your visit.
Can I relax in a hot tub or take a bath after getting waxed?
Try to stay away from HOT environments like saunas and hot tubs for 48 hours. Even hot baths can cause irritation and infections, and the same goes for swimming pools (48 hours).
What should I wear the day of my visit?
Go for something comfy! You will be more comfortable post-wax if you wear looser clothing like a comfy dress and cotton undies!
Will waxing my nostrils hurt more than tweezing them?
Not at all! Unlike tweezing, waxing removes all of the hairs at once with just one pull, saving time (and grief!).
Should I take Ibuprofen before my visit?
If you have a low pain tolerance, take ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment to help out!
I have a special event coming up and am new to waxing, when should I schedule
Plan at least two visits in before the event so you (and your skin) have some time to get used to the process!
Aunt Flo is in town, can I still get waxed?
It’s okay to wax when on your period. Just change your tampon right before your appointment. Also remember that the increase of blood flow may make your skin more sensitive, so you may want to take some ibuprofen before your visit.
When can I show off my new bikini wax (intimately)?
It’s important to avoid intimate contact for at least 48 hours after your wax appointment. With sensitive skin and open pores, freshly waxed skin is more susceptible to bacteria.
Is it alright to freshen up after getting waxed?
Try to avoid using deodorant, moisturizer or other creams and lotions for several hours after waxing so you don’t clog your pores.
What is the difference between a basic bikini and a tight bikini?
Basic bikini is the hair just inside the underwear line down to the bottom of the cheeks. A tight bikini brings it in further on the sides and right up to the edge of the labia - it also brings the top down as far as the guest would like, but not including the labia.
Why does LunchboxWax use soft wax?
The short answer: You might just say we are always aiming for excellence, and that includes our products and how we use them.
The long answer: We use specially formulated, all-natural soft wax simply because we find it works far better at removing hair and creates a gentler, more comfortable waxing experience for our guests. Oftentimes, hard wax requires multiple applications over the same area of skin to remove all of the hair, and that can just get down-right uncomfortable. With our speed-waxing technique and our soft wax, our waxologists can work quickly to remove all of the hair in a way that is gentler to the skin. A quick, thorough experience is what we strive for every time. Loyal LunchboxWax guests agree that our products and techniques offer beautifully smooth skin. Come in and see for yourself!
Is there a LunchboxWax in my city?
The LunchboxWax buzz is building and so are the number of locations we have to serve you. We wax in Portland, Park City, Sarasota, Scottsdale and various other areas. We also wax in Idaho – be it Boise or Meridian or Sun Valley. If you don’t see a LunchboxWax location near your on our map, check back with us later. You never know when our doors will open in your neck of the woods.
How do I redeem a Groupon or Living Social promotion?
Sometimes, LunchboxWax offers promotions for the salon closest to you. Groupon and Living Social are two great examples. If you find yourself in possession of one of these killer deals, here’s what you do:
1. Call the salon directly, or book your appointment online for the promotional service.
2. Even though you have already paid for the service through Groupon or Living Social, LunchboxWax requires a credit card per the terms of our cancellation policy.
3. Show your waxologist your Groupon or Living Social at the time of your service, and you’re set. Remember, your waxologists are service providers. Leaving tips for quality work offer up that super-sweet feeling – kind of like the way you felt when you skipped all the way home to show off your A+ and all those shiny gold stars on your grade school papers.
